NOT built to last

        SUNDAY 3/27/22 4:18 PM-take me back to the good old days, when things were built to last and not break down after a couple of years. Take me back to a time when I can go to a store and buy something, not make an appointment to be waited on. Take me back to a time when I wasn’t forced to buy a product I didn’t want because the product I DID want is (surprise) no longer available. Back to a time when the turnover for  new technology was longer than a year or so.
       It all boils down to the greed of American capitalism. So because it’s the 21st-century, I’m stuck with a more or less dead phone until I keep my appointment tomorrow. I’m really surprised that it will let me do THIS, because it won’t let me do anything else. It figures – I get my laptop back and then my phone dies… I smell a technological rat. Dianne is in a department store; she’s been there for at least 25 minutes.
      Maybe I shouldn’t be but I’m tired/sleepy. And hungry, although we still have a stop to make at CVS. and the gas station. As you can possibly imagine, I’m not happy, which seems to be a new way of life for me. Dianne has been in the department store for at least 35 minutes. I am VERY hungry at this point.
   5:10PM--we're back home...the BBQ potato chips satified my hunger for the time being.
6:40PM--I have a slight headache...'tis the (change of ) seasons I guess.
9PM--I don't think I'm gonna make it past 11PM; I can record Dick Van Dyke--I think it's automatically set to do that anyway.
9:30PM--it really hurts to scroll thru Fakebook and see all the people I thought MIGHT be my friends and realize how wrong I was. Such is Life, right? I guess SueEl is gonna wanna go to Dietle's tomorrow...I don't, at least not yet. BTW, my upcoming appointment with Robert has been cancelled. He's no longer with All Day Medical Care. It figures, right?
Tomorrow is Monday, which usually a fairly sucky day; but the roomie and I are going to Verizon again after she gets off from work; at least I think we are.
MONDAY 3/28/22 NOON--Verizon allegedly needs my Microsoft password (WHY?) and my Apple password (THAT makes sense) so I've got til 5PM to find them or create new ones.
1:30PM--It took the better part of a half hour (or more) but I think maybe I might have possibly recovered (or created) the TWO new passwords Verizon allegedly needs to work on my phone(s).
1:45PM-- and none of the newer iPhones have headphone jacks--again Apple f**ks it's loyal customers--I guess that's the American way...
4:55PM--I think Dianne is getting off work shortly. I have NO idea whatsoever how long we'll be at the Verizon Store--it shouldn't be more than an hour, but I bet it will be.
5:09PM--maybe Dianne ISN'T getting off work yet--but there's something going on upstairs...I just had some chicken nuggets; that should hold me over until we get back home.
5:30PM--we're leaving shortly; *I* don't think we'll be back before Seven o'clock.
8:50PM-three hours--THREE HOURS!!! and the phones are not yet fully loaded up!!! I have no idea how long that will take--it could take all night for all I know. Needless to say, I'm NOT happy-yet.
10:50PM--the Data Transfer is still happening...how much longer it will take is a mystery to ME. I see another trip to the Verizon Store tomorrow...still not happy...I'm NOT gonna wait up all night...I'll just start all over again tomorrow...not all that happy--yet. 
11:45PM--STILL trying to get my new iPhone up and running--it would help a lot if someone had explained to me what I'm supposed to do--but NOBODY DID. Another trip to the Verizon Store isn't possible or likely; it's DEFINITE.
TUESDAY 3/29/22 9:37AM--Verizon sucks...or is it Apple? or both? STILL  not yet able to use my new phone, but I think maybe I might possibly be getting somewhat closer. Unless I just jinxed it.
12:36PM--it has taken EIGHTEEN hours, but my iPhone is working; not perfectly, of course, but good enough for now.
