Change is good, right?
FRIDAY 12/17/21 9:30AM--So I have (for now) a new lightweight amp in the basement. It has a bunch of effects built into it, but I don't yet care. The "gizmo" should work well with it; the online research indicates that it will. I need to find out ASAP; I can return it if I want to--by next Thursday. I therefore MUST go to Dietle's on Monday, SueEl or not.
You'd think it wouldn't matter to Dianne, but it does. Hiding it from her is juvenile, but for now that's what I'm doing. I don't have any idea when I'll have the chance to check it out thoroughly...hopefully she'll go do stuff tomorrow; I can check it out then. Maybe I can't put it thru its' paces while she's working upstairs, but what I CAN do is hook everything up today, so it can be ready whenever I'm ready.
On December the 3rd, the Bandits posted that they were looking for a guitarist; I swear I just saw, on Richard's FB page that they are (also? instead?) looking for a keyboard player...NOW I'm worried...
12:09PM--I PM'd Richard, but I haven't herd back from him yet. I didn't buy the amp JUST to possibly audition for the Bandits; I need an amp that's lighter than the Blues Jr. and the Champion 50XL fits that description
1:23PM--I bought the wrong medicine for Dianne yesterday or the day before; just got back from CVS with the right medicine. I left the car door wide open when I went into CVS. Fortunately I left my phone at home, usually it would be in the car...
Dianne says she's going out to get her hair cut tomorrow morning at 10, and then she's going to Kohl's. I should be able to get some testing in at the time. I can hardly wait...jeez, ANOTHER patience test...
2:07PM--Head back from Ritchard--they are looking for EITHER a guitar player or a keyboard player...and they have eleven guitarists waiting in the wings...I'm not optimistic.
3:55PM--I couldn't wait any longer. I checked out (rather thoroughly I think) the amp...I think for basic blues country and rock 'n' roll, the Champion should be fine. As for being loud enough, for what few minutes I was on Hershey's stage I was "way loud"...this coming from a guy who was IMO too loud...so I think volume-wise the amp will be loud enough. Now I can't wait until Monday evening...I'm not yet sure but I think all you can do with Channel One is turn it up or down and EQ it.Channel Two might be where all the action is...
5:19PM--I dunno yet, but it's possible that the Blues Jr. cover will fit the Champion as well. That would be cool by me...
6:12PM--Someone (not me) is angry about...well, lotsa things...I think she's going into DC tomorrow, to visit her niece. I don't wanna go, but that doesn't mean I won't (sigh). I feel left out when I DO attend the family doings. I'm not sure if Dianne notices or even cares..
6:54PM--.It took awhile to go thru all of the Playlists, but I've got SEVEN CDs full of guitarless tracks, most of them feature the actual (original) artists...Of course, some of the songs are beyond my skill level, but a lot of them are not. I hope to weed out the ones that I can handle and put them on one CD.
7:26PM--on the other hand, if I'm not auditioning for the Bandits, why practice?
10:33PM--maybe I was hallucinating Richard's post advertising for a keyboard player--I only saw it the one time but now I can't find it.UPDATE--just found it (rather hidden IMO) on an FB page called Maryland Bands and Musicians
10:52PM--just compiled a playlist of guitarless songs I think I can play...at some point I'll put it on a CD. It's about an hour's worth of stuff.
